
Alexandra Garita
Alexandra Garita is a feminist activist committed to advancing women’s and LBT persons’ human’s rights. Alex is currently the Executive Director of Prospera INWF, an international network of women’s funds committed to resourcing women, girls and trans people’s organizations, activists, movements, and their communities around the world. Alex previously served as Deputy Director for three years. Alex was the founder and first Executive Coordinator of Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice (RESURJ) for five years. Prior to that, she worked as Senior Program Officer, International Policy, with the International Women’s Health Coalition and led the international advocacy program at IPPF/Western Hemisphere Region. Alex formed part of Decidir (Choice: Youth Coalition for Sexual Citizenship) where she advocated for young people’s rights to safe and legal abortion in Mexico City prior to the liberalization of the law. Alex has orked at the Mexican Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and with the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Reproductive Health Matters. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from Boston University and an M.A. in the Theory and Practice of Human Rights from Essex University.
