Tatiana Cordero Velasquez
Tatiana Cordero Velasquez was an Ecuadorian feminist activist, with a Masters Degree in Gender Studies from the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague, Holland. She belonged to feminist collectives, which ensured the inclusion of women’s rights in the 1998 and 2008 Ecuadorian Constitution. She had extensive experience working with feminist organizations and women defenders of human rights in Latin America. Her long trajectory includes advising several women’s funds such as Astraea, the Global Fund for Women, and Mama Cash. Tatiana was a member of the GGBTI initiative for Human Rights Watch. Prior to joining Urgent Action Fund Latin America, she was the Executive Director of Taller de Comunicación Mujer. She was also part of the regional team of the Women, Health, and Development Program of the Pan-American Health Organization. She enjoys silence and nature, profoundly loves her roots, the mountains, and healing processes. She wrote poems and was constantly seeking new expressions of her spirituality. We are profoundly honoured to have had Tatiana in our Steering Committee before her passing in 2021.
