K.K. holds a PhD in social sciences with a research focus on social movements, democracy and human rights. K.K. has been the Executive Director of ELAS, the only Women’s Fund in Brazil, since 2014. In this role, she mobilizes resources in the global philanthropy community and is a passionate advocate for the rights of women and the end of racism. K.K. and her team are investing resources in civil society organizations led by women and LBT people committed to social justice and sustainable development in Brazil using participatory, flexible processes and radical trust in women. K. K. believes that Women’s Funds are a smart (fast and sustainable) mechanism of civil society that strengthen the leadership of women in social movements, and thus contribute to the strengthening of democracy and the realization of rights and equity in the world. K.K. has been active in contributing to various social movements and democratic processes to achieve women’s rights in Brazil and in international arenas for more than 20 years. She is committed to feminist and anti-racist ethics and practice. She is a fearless and determined leader and incorrigible optimist.
