Tariro is a human rights lawyer currently working with Urgent Action Fund Africa as the Head of Partnerships & Development. She is passionate about gender equality, disability rights and advancing the rights of the gender non-conforming population. Her mantra is difference should never be a reason to impede one from living a life to their full potential. Her professional efforts are focused on developing and managing programs, initiatives, and campaigns aimed to make a difference in communities, societies, and legal systems. She is proficient in resource mobilization and partnership building, being able to engage donors and increase budgets to support work by feminist movements resulting in transformative change. Tariro is a seasoned gender legal researcher and analyst who has spearheaded several cutting edge women-centred research within Africa. Prior to joining UAF-Africa, Tariro lectured in Gender, HIV and AIDS and the Law at Great Zimbabwe University. She worked at Zimbabwe Women Lawyers Association (ZWLA) as the Transformative Justice Manager as well as at Plan International and Musasa Project in various coordination and advisory capacities. Tariro Holds an LLM in Women’s Law and an LLB(Hons) from the University of Zimbabwe.
