When we receive flexible funding that supports us to carry out important organizational strengthening processes, it contributes to FRIDA’s long-term sustainability and resilience, and our ability to effectively serve the young feminist movements that we support.”
Majandra Rodriguez Acha, FRIDA | Young Feminist Fund
Founded in 2010, FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund is the world’s first and only youth-led fund dedicated to young feminist organizing. FRIDA’s flagship grantmaking program facilitates a global, transparent, inclusive, and participatory decision-making process that enables young feminists to collectively vote on the proposals in their region. This places grant decisions in the hands of the applicants themselves and transforms traditional power relationships between funders and recipients. FRIDA’s long-term goal is to achieve a world where young women, girls, and trans* youth are viewed as the experts on their own realities and have the voice, agency, resources, and visibility to build a more just and sustainable world. In this period of rapid growth, FRIDA focused on strengthening internal systems and structures to make sure the fund remains dynamic, relevant, and adequately responsive to the everchanging needs of young feminist movements, while remaining rooted in its core values. FRIDA prioritized funding for staff, systems, tools, and equipment, as well as communications.
