Fenomenal Funds is a feminist funder collaborative using a shared governance model and participatory grantmaking to support the resilience of women’s funds who are members of the Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds.
How We Approached Reflecting and Learning at Fenomenal Funds
In the context of Fenomenal Funds, learning is an emergent, adaptive, and co-evolutionary process. We see it as an integral part of the grantmaking process in both the design and implementation phases. Our reporting, learning, and sharing processes are deeply intertwined, with each element playing a critical role in not just fulfilling administrative requirements but also in fostering a vibrant, learning-oriented community of practice. Insights gained from the women’s funds are looped back into our funding framework, thereby continuously enriching the collective knowledge base and strategic focus of all involved.
Resourcing Learning and Evaluation
Due to flexible funding for Learning and Evaluation, Fenomenal Funds was able to hire a full time Learning and Evaluation Manager inhouse to develop its learning strategy and support the design, data making and analysis of all learning and documentation processes. We were also able to hire and provide detailed orientation to seasoned individuals to document and facilitate the learning of each of the collaboration groups drawing on participatory feminist practices
